Mid-range Digital Cameras

OK, done a couple reviews on low-cost cameras, but here are some recommendations for the $300 - $600.
Hmm, for starters, Canon makes some really great cameras in this range:
- Powershot S45 (4 mpix, 3x zoom, 3 min movie, $490)
- Powershot S30 (3.1 mpix, 3x zoom, 30 sec movie, $380)
- Powershot S230 (3.1 mpix, 2x zoom, 14 sec+ movie, $400)
But, if you want more than regular ol' 3x zoom, you have to look elsewhere:
- HP Photosmart 850 (3.9 mpix, 8x zoom, 60 sec movie, $500)
- Fuji Finepix 3800 (3.1 mpix, 6x zoom, 60 sec movie, $450)
- Olympus C-730UZ (3 mpix, 10x zoom, 48 sec movie - no audio, $600)
The Canons take excellent pictures, good enough to crop down to "get" the zoom you wanted in the first place, provided you take a good picture. I don't have any hands-on experience with any of these cameras, but all are well-rated by others.
