Celebrations
Jacob turned seven this year! He's full of ideas, questions, and unbridled curiosity. Come by and visit, and you're guaranteed to have Jacob snuggling up to you and asking you all sorts of questions. He loves to read, and takes great pride in keeping up with all his older brothers. He's still Victoria's favorite; she still calls him "k-k".
Speaking of birthdays, a good friend of ours celebrated, as he called it, "the 31st anniversary of his 29th birthday." His family managed to pull it off as a surprise to him, and we all enjoyed barbecue and ice cream floats on a hot summer day.
Meanwhile, Carmen enjoyed dressing up for a Junior/Senior Banquet with friends. They started with a fancy dinner hosted by gracious friends, and headed off in a limo for a movie night at one of the parents' homes.

Graduated
We had a great day with tons of family and friends celebrating Antonio's graduation from high school! Family came from far and wide, and friends we haven't seen in a while came to wish Antonio well. Krista did a superb job orchestrating lots of yummy food for the event, and we managed to get the house cleaned up to be presentable for the 100 or so people that were there.
David's parents were able to visit for a few days, and one of the things we did was enjoy a hike through a local park, including a stop in a creek. Antonio left with them to spend a few weeks away.
This Memorial Day we had a chaplain speak in one of the services. He did a great job of explaining the sacrifices this holiday is all about by telling us his first-hand experiences of men he served with who died serving our country. Very sobering.

Weekends Away
For Krista's birthday, David and Krista left the kids to their own (well-instructed) devices, and spent a couple nights in Portsmouth, VA. We enjoyed doing nothing and resting, then taking a break from that to see Riverdance. The week before, we'd traveled the opposite direction to the wedding of a young lady who we knew well from being her youth leaders. It was good to see many old friends of ours there as well, and be able to stop by and visit with family on the way.

Graduation
You're invited to celebrate!
Manuel Antonio LaRocque graduates from Smooth Stones Christian School on Saturday, May 29th, 2010. The official (short) speech and graduation will happen at 5:00pm.
We'll be celebrating with an open house at our home from 2pm through whenever we're done. Drop in whenever you like to wish him well! Plan to stick around as long as you like; we'll have food and games all afternoon and evening.
RSVPs are appreciated.

Princess
Victoria is fully aware of the power she has over her big brothers, and uses it to great advantage on hikes :)
Krista took Carmen, Victoria, Felix, and Stephen for a few days at Disney (lots of video, still working on that), while David, Antonio, and Jacob stayed to work on painting, resurfacing floors, and building a new room for the abovementioned princess.

Lots of Kids
Krista's mom was re-married this week, which brought together all her grandchildren. For the occasion, Victoria got her ears pierced. After the wedding, we all had fun over at the Wilds playing around the river and sailing through the air on the land trolley.

Baptisms
Felix and Stephen decided to step up and publicly declare their salvation by being baptized! We're so glad God is so good, and does such a good and complete job of saving us from our sin.
Victoria's been enjoying a home economics class with friends, and likes making (and eating) food!

Balance
Just like Jacob and Stephen here, we're always trying to keep the right balance. Our relationships with God, participation in church, keeping up with family and friends, and work in school or business all demand our time and attention, yet are all the right things to do. This past couple of weeks took some of us to help Krista's mom sort through things before moving to her soon-to-be-husband's home, while the rest held the fort at home. We've had great fun with friends at parks, and it's a beautiful spring to be outdoors (sorry, dwellers-of-the-frozen-North!). Even the dogs think it's time to be out-and-about as well; we got a call from a house a neighborhood behind us that Encore was paying them a visit.
We enjoyed a visit from the Pettit Evangelistic Team at church last week. The kids had a great time learning verses and songs with their spy-themed lessons, while the older ones enjoyed good singing and preaching. Every heard of We're In the Lord's Agency?
