Making files Unoffline not available
Tuesday, August 5, 2003
I've made "My Documents" point to a network location. Doing so automatically makes it available offline, by Windows' default settings. This is great, and is what I want, until I end up with some huge files that I'd rather leave on the server. When I go to uncheck the Make Available Offline option, it is grayed out and unavailable. The fix is a Group Policy setting

- Start > Run > mmc
- Actions > Add/Remove Snap In
- Add > Group Policy
- Browse the policy to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > Offline Files
- Enable the Do not automatically make redirected folders available offline
- You'll need to reboot for the setting to take effect.
