Ups and Downs

Ever notice how in Psalm after Psalm, so many of them start out with a cry for help, then end up at peace with God? Life is definitely a roller coaster; despite our best intentions, we have an incredibly hard time being perfectly faithful and steadfast. Look at David, who wrote most of the Psalms. For around 15 years, David dealt with the daily discouragements of being under threat of his life. He had no end in sight, just waiting for God to take the steps that would move him into his anointed position as king of Israel. For years, David had to rely on God to calm his uncertainties and fears. That's a really long time! Our months of waiting for our girls to come home and our house to sell aren't nearly as long, but we can rely on the same faithful God to carry us through these times just like He did for David so long ago.
