Dealing with the Devil

Jotham - good
- Did right
- But didn't clear out the bad
Ahaz - bad
- Sacrificed his son to idols
- Appealed to Assyria instead of God to help when in a pinch
- Copied heathen altars
Why did God go to these lengths with His own people?
- Sinned against God
- Feared other things than God
- Copied the world's traditions
- In secret they did wrong
- They built places of idolatry all over the place
They rejected God
- They rejected his commandments and covenant
- They made idols
- They sacrificed their children to the gods of the world
- They practiced divination and enchantments
- They sold themselves to do evil
Interestingly enough, when the Assyrians performed their highly effective method of subjugation by mixing up peoples, the ones they moved into Israel suffered deaths by lions from God, prompting the return of one of the exiled priests.
