Transitions

Faithful daily plodding yields results, but at some point there'll be a change. Whether desired or not, you'll have to face that fact that somehow you'll have to transition out of an old position, way of life, house, school, job, or whatever it is into a new one. It can be exciting; it can be a relief, or it could be the end of the known world as far as your concerned.

Lots of transitions in the Bible, with lessons to be learned. Here are a few to get thinking around:

  1. Duty to Obey: Jesus ascended to heaven, tasking his disciples with bringing the gospel to the world Mat 28:19,20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47; Acts 1:8
  2. Continuing Service: Elijah was taken away by the chariot of the Lord, leaving Elisha to pick up where he left off 2Kings 2:15
  3. A Clean Slate: Noah rode the waves as the Flood washed sin off the earth, starting over with God's blessing Gen 9:1,9
  4. Giving Tools for Living: Fathers teach their children to love God Deu 6:5-7, so they can in turn teach others to be faithful 2Tim 2:1,2
  5. Stick with Family: Ruth gives up all she knows to follow God and her mother-in-law Ruth 1:16,17
  6. Be Careful what you Wish For: God gave Israel a king, which gave them no end of trouble and heartache 1Sam 8:10-20
