Giving

It is a shame there are so few examples in the Bible of real giving. This type of giving is definitely against human nature, and defies all logic.
- Poor Widow Mr 12:41-44, Lu 21:1-4
- She gave a mere two mites, a farthing, half of one cent, practically nothing in purchasing power
- Her living - this was everything she had. This is what made this so special. A living is a whole lot!
- Rich people Mr 12:41-44
- Gave large amounts of wealth
- But, It was only a little of what they had, out of their extra stuff. It didn't hurt them one bit - it was part of their spending money, so to speak. It could buy lots of goods, but God couldn't use it at all because they were using it for their glory, not His.
- Mary Mr 14:1-9
- Brought a box of a precious ointment, and dumped it on Jesus' head
- Worth a year's wages, this act seemed mindless insanity to those around with banker's hearts. Jesus not only commends her, but points out this lavish gift as an example to the rest of us.
- The people of Israel 1Ch 29:9
- The people of Israel gave tons of stuff toward the building of the temple, willingly with perfect hearts. God loves this kind of giving.
- Everthing is the Lord's anyway; it's not hard for Him to provide. All this wealth was from Him anyway. Just as He'd promised, they'd acquired it from their conquests, and possibly even had some Egyptian wealth still lying around.
- The Philippians Php 4:19
- Gave to Paul in his need in prison, stretching their resources by doing so.
- God supplied all their needs from his riches in glory by Christ Jesus
- God's provision
- To His wandering people De 8:3
- To His sheep Ps 23:1-6
- To those who consider the poor Ps 41:1-3
- To the upright Ps 84:11
- To those who honor Him with their gifts Pr 3:9-10
- To the generous Pr 11:25
- The the faithful givers Mal 3:10
- To those who seek the kingdom of God Lu 12:31
- To those who give bountifully, cheerfully 2Co 9:6-15
